They are closed at the weekend.
The tour lasts for around two and a half hours. Our tours are only available to those aged 18 years or over. As The Balvenie is a working distillery there are a few areas with steps and an amount of walking is required. The distillery is over 100 years old and, as such, is not accessible for wheel chairs.

1893 : The building took fifteen months to complete and on 1st May 1893, the first distillation took place at The Balvenie Distillery.House Style Sweet, creamy and honeyed. Information Right next door to its sister distillery Glenfiddich, and owned by the Grant family which founded both distilleries. Balvenie was built next to the castle of the same name in 1892, on the back of the success of Glenfiddich. The distillery still uses some of its own malt from barley produced on the Grant family farms.

Rich and intense with complex layers of sherried oak, spiced apples, caramelised pears and toasted almonds. Intriguing hints of beeswax, fresh ground spices and a subtle earthiness.
Palate:
First impressions are of mixed spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves), combined with sweet, fruity, sherried flavours. On addition of a little water a delicate vanilla character reveals itself with a beautiful stewed fruit sweetness and a touch of oak tannin.
