History 1851 : established by William Mackenzie, a local farmer
1865 : William died in 1865, his widow leased the distillery to James Fleming, a banker from Aberlour. Together with William Mackenzie's son he founded Mackenzie and Company
1884 : renovated and enlarged
1891 : Dailuaine-Glenlivet Distillery Ltd. was founded
1898 : Dailuaine-Glenlivet and Talisker Distillery Ltd. are fused to Dailuaine-Talisker Distilleries Ltd.
1915 : Thomas Mackenzie died and the company was sold to John Dewar & Sons, John Walker & Sons and James Buchanan & Co. one year later.
1917 : reconstructed after a fire
1987 : Dailuaine was taken over by United Distillers (UDV)
House Style A big, malty, fruity and often sherried whisky.

Colour:
Amber red.
Nose:
Dry sherry, aromatic.
Palate:
Some sherry, malt, dry, a touch of ceder, oak wood.
Finish:
Sherry, warming and long.

Cask:
Refill American Hogsheads.
Colour:
Light Gold.
Nose:
Sweet malty aromas laced with fruit notes - apple skins and pears. A delicate perfumed note also present.
Palate:
Sweet with oily, spicy notes - liquorice and aniseed. Traces of oak and toasted malt.
Finish:
Malty.
Dailuaine 1991 - Connoisseurs Choice -  43%
Cask:
Refill American Hogsheads.
Colour:
Pale gold.
Nose:
Fruits - pears, peached and mangos. Some sweet, vanilla notes and an earthy spiciness.
Palate:
Sweet (toffee) with green leafy, hop-like flavours. Slight smoky edge-charred oak.
Finish:
Smoky with hints of toasted malt.

Dailuaine 1975 - Connoisseurs Choice -  40%
Cask:
First Fill and Refill Sherry Casks.
Colour:
Golden.
Nose:
Sherry wood with dry grass and bracken notes. Fruit aromas - apple skins some oily, smoky notes.
Palate:
Rich fruit and smoky notes. Very sweet - fudge/toffee. Spices - nutmeg and liquorice.
Finish:
Sherry and a little smokiness.
