History 1840 : built by the brothers James en John Grant.
1898 : James, son of James Grant builts another distillery on the other side of the road: Glen Grant 2 (Caperdonich)
1973 : Stills increased from 4-6
1978 : Acquired by Seagram (Chivas) and stills increased from 6-10
2006 : acquired by Gruppo Campari (together with Old Smuggler and Braemer Scotsh Whisky)
House Style Herbal and nutty when young, but can be a huge after-dinner dram when matured.

Information Glen Grant distillery was the first of five to be built in the town of Rothes. Glen Grant is a genuine single Scotch malt with 1840 provenance. The brand is currently the world's number 2 selling malt whisky and is an Italian icon and market leader.

Very light. Mucscadet., green grapes, fresh flowers. Hint of immaturity. Nutty..
Palate:
Very lightly malty. Creamy. Nutty. Interplay of sweetness and dryness.
Finish:
A hint of fruity acidity.

Colour:
Gold.
Nose:
Fruity, floral and nutty.
Palate:
Dry and sharp. Then soft and nutty.
Finish:
Spicy.

Glen Grant - 10 year old - 43%
Colour:
Full gold.
Nose:
Dry, soft and sweet.
Palate:
Sweet at first, then nutty and dry.
Finish:
Very dry.

Fresh, citrus and tropical fruits - lemonade, melons and strawberry jam. Hints of vanilla pods and spices.

Spicy with earthy, toasted flavours. A delicate fruitiness and a smoky/peaty edge.
Finish:
Dry, slightly oaky.

:
Golden amber.
Nose:
Bags of sherry - sweet sultanas interlaced with a whisper of smoke. A slight herbal note (light) - almost floral. A wonderful nose!
Palate:
Smoky, freshly ground coffee, lovely sweet sherry notes develop and explode in the corners of the mouth. A slight spicy note adds another dimension. A mix of sumptuous flavours.
Finish:
Fruit and smoky notes last for ages. Very morish!

:
Amber gold.
Nose:
Honeyed vanilla, sweet fruitiness, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit. A dry Hessian note. Creamy note lingers.
Palate:
Layers of fruit - initially rum and raisin / sultanas, followed by a creamy smoothness - like raspberry yoghurt. A light smoky / peaty edge lingers.
Finish:
Very fruity with a dry smoky edge.

:
Pale gold.
Nose:
Sweet, perfumed with traces of vanilla and new oak. A rich baked fruit aroma - apple pie.
Palate:
A touch of smoke initially with green, leafy flavours. Aromatic fruit notes - rhubarb and gooseberries. The smokiness slowly returns.
Finish:
Sweet with hints of oak.

Nose:

Rich, sherrywood with a hint of smokiness.

:

Dark chocolate with a peppermint edge. Whiffs of cereal notes and some vanilla. A hint of ground coffee and banana.

Waves of blackcurrants, blaeberries (wild summer fruit), supported wonderfully by a smoky / menthol note. Spicy with liquorice and aniseed notes.
Finish:
Spicy with a smoky edge.

Dry and spicy, with waves of smoky malt. Ground ginger. Blackcurrants and dark chocolate. Hints of citrus fruits - grapefruit, ripe oranges.
Finish:
Long and contemplative.

Sweet with fresh fruit flavours and a subtle sherry hint. Traces of white pepper and other spices with a drying, toasted oak flavour.
Finish:
Surprisingly quick - a little sherry wood and smoke.

Very, very fruity - juicy oranges explode throughout the mouth! A smoky note develops. Hints of dark chocolate and toasted malt.
Finish:
Long with menthol edge remaining.
