| History | 1872 : Glengyle xas established by William Mitchel
(previous owner of Springbank) 1919 : acquired by Highland Malt Distilleries Ltd 1924 : sold for £300 1925 : closed and the stock was auctioned on April 8th 1940 : acquired by Bloch Brothers (they also bought Glen Scotia) but remained closed due to WWII 1970 : warehouse was converted into a garage 2000 : Mitchell's Glengyle Ltd bought the distillery 2001 : renovated 2004 : opened and the first distillation on March 25th |
