Information It is run by a descendent of the family that founded the company in the early 1800's. The John and William Mitchell had a background of illicit distilling before they founded Spirngbank in 1828.

Nose:
Orchard fruit (pear) witha hint of peat, vanilla and malt.
Palate:
Malt, oak, spice, nutmeg and cinnamon, vanilla essence.
Finish:
Sweet with a lingering salty tingle.
 
Springbank - 15 year old - 46%
In 2006 this bottling replaced the 21 year old (not available until 2011. Unchillfiltered.

20% bourbon & 80% sherry.

Nose:
Sherry, dark chocolate, christmas cake, almonds, toffee and oak.
Palate:
Creamy, raisins, dark chocolate, figs, marzipan, brazil nuts and vanilla.
Finish:
Oak and sherry notes sustain, mingling with hints of leather.

Only 59 bottles exclusively produced for the staff. Unchillfiltered.

Springbank - Marsala Wood Expression - 9 year old - 58%
This spirit was distilled in October 1996 and bottled in August 21006. A release of 7,740 bottles. Unchillfiltered.

7 years in bourbon & 2 years in ex-Marsala casks.

Russet.
Nose:
Sugar and spice and all things nice! Rich, sweet and syrupy. Crème caramel, coffee creams and rum and raisin. Forget dessert, just have this instead!.
Palate:
Thick and rich on the palate, the sweetness from the nose develops and stays at the front of your tongue. Hints of fruit and nut chocolate.
Finish:
Long and lingering. The Marsala and Springbank compliment each other without either being too dominant. A perfect balance.
Springbank - 100 Proof - 10 year old - 57%
First released March 2004 but sold as an on-going bottling. Unchillfiltered.

Dried apricots, ginger, buttery toffee and marzipan.
Palate:
Sweet oak, very full bodied, malty and rich. Honey and wood.
Finish:
Lingering sweetness complimented by a hint of smoke.
 
  Springbank 1997 - Cask Strength - 10 year old - 55,2%
A new annual release bottling of limited quantities from Campbeltown selected by Stuart Robertson and Frank McHardy. Unchillfiltered.

Nose:
The effect of the re-charred casks is huge, giving a distinct burnt caramel character. The woody flavours are reminiscent of brown toast and butter, well-browned flapjack and roasted oats. Also detected notes of everything from tawny marmalade and candle wax, through to ice cream soda and Irn Bru!.
Palate:
Rich and dry with huge amounts of flavour. Sweet oak, peaches and honey concentrated at the back of the palate. The mouth feel is very lively, with a tingle of salt and citrus.
Finish:
A well balanced finish, as smokey notes mingle with sherry, oak and caramel. The finish is long, rich and warming.

Sweet and malty, almost floral, hints of citrus, tangy tangerines, faint medicinal notes, delicate.
Palate:
Sweet and oily with flavours of red apples, rich thick phenols, chewy, rock salt, soot and fire embers.
Finish:
Thick salty tingle at the front of the tongue, sweet phenols, fades to floral buttercups.
Longrow - 14 year old - 46%
Unchillfiltered.

Dark amber with golden highlights.
Nose:
Soft, complex, oily, pressed apple juice, peat embers.
Palate:
Lush, Beautiful weight, viscous, mellow sweetness, chewing a mild cigar.
Finish:
Lingering peat and seaweed, a dash of brine, dribble of iodine, coastal.

Nose:
The nose is all fruit and nuts - a rum-toft of plums, peaches, apples, pineapple, with traces of almond oil (and possibly linseed oil) and a shaving of oak in the background.
Palate:
Tasted straight, the effect is very tannic; mouth-drying and somewhat bitter. Water brings the oily notes forward (adding scented wax), introduces some burnt sugar and hot sand, shortens the fruity notes (now pears) and turns the nuts into dry marzipan. Viscous, even waxy mouth-feel; surprisingly cooling. Some sweetness to start but predominantly spicy (cloves, liquorice, eucalyptus), and bitter as coffee beans.
Finish:
Finishes very long and medicinal-cooling, with a return of the spice. An extraordinary whisky, to be savoured with dark chocolate, espresso coffee and Robusto Havana!
